Help with Foliark — the offline document scanner that keeps everything on your device.
Yes. Scanning, text recognition (OCR), search, and filing all run on your device. You can use the whole app in airplane mode. The only network connection is to Apple’s App Store for the optional one-time Pro purchase.
Open Foliark and point the camera at your document — the edges are detected automatically and the page is captured when it’s framed (there’s a manual shutter for tricky lighting). You can then crop, rotate, reorder, add or remove pages, and apply a filter before saving.
Every scan is turned into a searchable PDF with an invisible text layer. Foliark indexes the recognized text on-device, so you can find any document by its content, filename, sender, topic, or person — with no page limits and no network.
One flat library that you can view five different ways — by Topic, Date, Sender, Person, or Type — all computed from each document’s content. Foliark files confident documents automatically; anything uncertain lands in a visible “To review” inbox so nothing is ever silently misfiled. Switching views never moves or copies your files.
Pro is a single one-time purchase (no subscription) that unlocks: combining scans into one PDF, AES-256 password protection, in-place PDF compression, exporting recognized text as a .txt file, and batch actions on many documents at once. Everything else — unlimited scanning, OCR, search, the Smart Vault, encrypted backup, and app lock — is free.
Open Settings → Restore Purchase while signed in to the same Apple ID you used to buy Pro. Your one-time unlock will be restored at no extra cost.
Go to Vault → Backup & Restore to create a single encrypted backup file, then store it wherever you like (Files, an external drive, or your own cloud). To move to a new device, install Foliark and restore from that file. Because Foliark is offline, this backup is your safety net — keep at least one copy somewhere safe.
No — and that’s by design. Encryption happens entirely on your device and the password is never sent to us or stored anywhere, so it cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Please keep your passwords safe; a lost password means the backup or protected PDF cannot be opened.
In Vault → Protect, enable the app lock to require Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to open Foliark, with a configurable auto-lock timeout.
The app is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese. On-device text recognition covers Latin-script documents.
